All ready to set off!
first sign post with the route on it!
flight of steps out of Douglas. Long and steep beginning!. Some hi-viz men were jet washing them but were kind enough to wait for us to pass!
murky ferry views from the poppy garden
commencing the walk along marine drive, an old road which is now partially closed
choppy waters! Glad to not be on ferry today
a civilised provision of benches and bins at regular intervals, particularly in the first half of the day
a perilous staircase I was glad wasn't on the route!
descent to Port Soderick, strange place that maybe once had more there than it does now!
an inland diversion through a lovely glen!
snack time by a lovely bridge
less interesting road section
return to the coast, and horrific windy gusts, but beautiful views
one of a few slightly dubious bridges, we think this was a Port Grenaugh
beach at Port Soldrick (not to be confused with previous Soderick!)
sheep and two lambs out of the field and on the path! We were worried they would panic and slip off a cliff, so just progressed slowly until a wide section where we were able to pass- phew!
beach crossing at Cass Ny Hawin- as it was low tide we could take a short cut across the beach...
...though it had a slightly 'ad-hock' escape route!!!!
finally, contouring the airfield at Derby Haven , and arriving at Castletown. Airplanes not visible until very low due to clouds, and the wind so strong you could hear the difference between a plane or just another gust of wind!
