Point of Ayre circular

We started the day with a short wander in Peel to the recycling bins, which then led us through the cathedral grounds and around the Labyrinth.

yesterday we had a peep inside, so just passing by this morning...

A final visit to the best beach at low tide

Then a bus all the way to Ramsey, to go directly to our next accomodation and drop bags off. To walk all the way along the coast would not have been possible, we discovered that yesterday's high tide was the highest of the year, so not a good time to pass certain sections of the route.

Our alternative was to get another bus to Bride, from which we could walk a loop of the northernmost tip of the island- feeling all light without luggage!

A walk down the road then took us to a track into Ayres Nature Reserve. No Ducks, rabbits or hedgehogs were sighted- slow or otherwise!

A very flat area, leading to a viewing tower on the horizon, where we meet the coast.

A quick look at the view...

...south in the direction of Peel

And North to the tip of the island

The advisory notices suggest walking next to the sea to avoid disturbing ground nesting birds in the dunes and upper beach.

Large jellyfish!

A lovely cluster of (disguised) birds having a bath and a forage in the pebbles

And our first seal at last! It watched us with interest for a while before moving on

Return to a gravel path and a distant lighthouse guiding us North

Looking inland, the island's mountains just visible behind the lighthouse

A giant foghorn?

And a mini lighthouse on the beach at Point of Ayre.

Choppy waters rushing past the end of the island. A few seals playing in the water here...

...and a lot more basking just a bit further up!

A bit more beach walking on our southern return down the other side of the island, before following a road back inland

Back in Bride, where we started, half an hour before the afternoon's only bus back!

Home for the next two nights... Sea on one side...

A nice lake on the other!

a walk into Ramsey for food

views of busy boats in the harbour

and a bridge to the main town!
