Laxey to Douglas

A last look out at the campsite we stayed on, which was very empty except a couple of camper vans... ...and us in the lovely shepherd's hut named Margaret. It was a cosy and warm stay, with every convenience, perfect for an overnight stay. A last long railway journey to make, a diversion inland and up hill, on the Snaefell Mountain Railway. This time it isn't cheating, as it's bringing us back to where we got on!  Views of the Great Laxey Wheel, aka Lady Isabella Hilly terrain that is much like the Cumbrian mountains. At the top station it is very windy! What an easy way to climb a mountain! It's bright, but a bit hazy, so we can't see as far as Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, as you sometimes can from here. Ramsey to Laxey

View from the hotel window in Ramsey, which missed the blog yesterday...nice sea view... ...until you look straight ahead and the other part of the hotel is right in the way!  Back to the tram to boost us beyond yesterdays walk... Here they are changing the direction of the aerial. It was a bit of a polava, because this tram has a trailer on the back, so they had to park the tram and detatch the trailer, drive the tram away from the trailer, and reverse back past the trailer on a different track, slide the trailer down to the end of the tracks, then take the tram back to the trailer to reconnect them (are you following?!) they had to change the tram aerial round three times in order to achieve this! The poor young trainee was learning the ropes as us passengers watched on with interest. Back on board, of course we chose the trailer!
