Kirk Michael to Peel

Tonight we are sleeping in the same place again, so we are doing today's section of walking in reverse- a bus seven miles up the road, and then walking back to the same finish point as yesterday.

Off the bus in Kirk Michael, and a road through a caravan park takes us to the shore

The sea is too high to get straight to the beach, but a short sandy path takes us to a place we can join the beach

The beach has very precarious looking sandy cliffs here

Looking at the seaweed and tide lines on the beach, at a high tide the sea can go right up to the cliffs, which you really don't want to be that close to. Our guidebook advises that this section is rarely impassable, but there are other places on the coast with a similar prognosis further along. As high tide is around 2pm tomorrow we may not be able to take on the whole coastal route. Some planning tonight will be required

It was however, lovely to enjoy a completely flat section on the beach, until we met the breakwaters, and had to head back inland for the next section

Some fun wedged rocks, presumably trapped in rough seas

The guidebook said toilets were available here, but this dubious cubicle left much to be desired, and was closed anyway!

We arrived at the foot of a disused railway viaduct, where the path led us up to the old tracks

View from the top!

Lots of gorse to brighten our way

A very inconvenient section where we had to disembark, and remount the tracks at the other side

Some of the tracks were in a sheltered ditch like this, where some sections were raised up with views

A few swamps made us glad to have gone for walking boots today (a trainer day was considered!)

A tunnel!

The railway lines intersected a road, were we joined said road for a short section up until a link to the clifftop path.

An official route bench, perfect for lunch

Rocks with seabirds along the way

Peel Castle visible on the island on the right, and Corrin's tower on the highest hill in the middle, from which we descended into Peel yesterday.

Nearly back! A lighter day but feeling pretty tired!

Lovely spring greens on the cliffs in Peel

Our AirBnB, above a detached garage

And revisiting the magical Fenella beach!
